Gourmet Traveller Review 2011

‘Rolling green hills, dairy cows and a 19th-century sandstone cottage make a setting conducive to a long lunch. A world away from nearby Ulladulla, this is a charming rustic retreat serving generous fare worthy of a detour. The gazpacho, a classic Spanish soup not often noteworthy, is velvety, peppery and lush, a perfect (and wise) entrée suggestion given the substantial and hearty items to follow, in particular the huge, slow-cooked, grain-fed chicken, perhaps a little tough, spiced beautifully with smoky paprika and honey and served with white beans. The chocolate and hazelnut ganache, deliciously smooth and rich and served with a raspberry sorbet, is a great way to finish and is sized to share. Choose a wine from the well-priced Cupitt’s-dominant list, or order your food, pop across to the cellar door and pick something that complements your meal’

4.5 STAR WINERY : James Halliday Wine Companion

James Halliday, is one of Australia’s most well-known and respected wine writer and critic, winemaker, and senior wine competition judge. Each year he releases a book called the ‘Australian Wine Companion’. In the 2012 edition he awards Cupitt’s Winery with 4 stars and scores six cupitt wines over 90 points including the Estate Grown Semillon 2010 (92), Rosie’s Saignee Cabernet Sauvignon 2010 (92), Woodlands Sauvignon 2010 (91), Mon Doux Botrytis Sauvignon Chardonnay 2010 (91), Totally Wild Chardonnay 2010 (90) and Viognier 2008 (90).
